A popular fitness trend in 2014 seems to be the ever growing popularity of HIIT Training. (high intensity interval training)
HIIT training can be used with just about any client type. The beauty of HIIT training is our clients tend to get faster results than just an ordinary workout.
The basic premise of HIIT training is to take a certain exercise and perform it to the best of your ability anywhere from 20-40 seconds, followed by 10-20 seconds of rest. This can be done anywhere from 4 to 8 rounds.
Studies have shown that interval training burns more body fat while maintaining lean muscle mass.
HIIT training can be tailored to any client level by choosing the appropriate exercises. As a certified personal trainer for more than 10 years, I generally have my clients wear a heart rate monitor to ensure we are training in a safe and optimal fat burning zone.
