As a recent graduate from the Physiotherapist Assistant program at Algonquin College, I had the opportunity to gain work experience at a physiotherapy clinic and at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre.During that time, I worked with people with:

Having elderly parents who are now in their 80s, I have seen firsthand what aging does to the body and the mind.I am a firm believer that resistance training is important to retain bone density and prevent osteoporosis. It also improves brain function, mental health, sleep, posture, mobility, and helps to maintain a healthy body weight.Resistance training can also prevent many conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. Balance exercises are also important as we age to prevent falls and fractures.The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommends resistance training at least 2 days a week to all adults 18 and over, as well as 150 minutes a week of aerobic activity or 22 minutes a day.

Two years ago, I was feeling lethargic, was not sleeping well, and had no energy. I was 205 pounds, size 38 waste and 44 jacket. I felt “bloated” and missed meals all day, and gorged at night. “When I first looked into personal training at my home, I obviously consulted the most common resource nowadays – Google.
